We make sure that our local government officials are kept up to date on the issues facing credit unions and their members.

NextMark is very active in Richmond and at the National level. Our staff regularly contributes to VACUPAC and we travel to speak with our legislators as often as possible.

How we advocate for our community

VACUPAC:

The credit union participates in the Virginia Credit Union League’s Political Action Committee, which raises funds both at local and national levels to help increase awareness of credit unions. FCFCU is one of the top contributors to the program, raising over $10,000 annually.

White House Ornament Sale:

Every holiday season, FCFCU offers for sale, the current White House Ornament. 100% of the proceeds go to support VACUPAC.

Credit Union Small Business Jobs Bill, S. 2231 supporter:

Contacting Senators and urging them to support the Credit Union Small Business Jobs Bill that allows credit unions to promote small business growth and economic development opportunities.

Credit Union Common Sense Legislation Bill, S. 2155 supporter:

Contacting Senators and urging them to support the Credit Union Common Sense Legislation Bill that protects seniors from elder abuse, makes mortgage processing easier and quicker, increases affordable rental housing in our communities, and helps our credit unions provide better service to their members.

Visit from CU Representatives from Africa:

We hosted overseas visitors from Africa (Malawi Credit Union League) to observe how we operate. These visits promote the worldwide credit union movement. The credit union has also hosted credit union leaders from Ireland.
