Twelve weeks ago, we became acquainted to a new way of life. A life of 6-foot distancing, a life of mask wearing, and a life of constant hand washing.  We took shelter in place, searched for household essentials, and began having our groceries delivered in an attempt to protect ourselves and our loved ones from a pandemic.Through it all, we came together and demonstrated our appreciation for those who put their lives at risk to keep our communities safe.

Our communities have started to re-open and right when we thought things were improving, the unthinkable happened. Another person of color’s life was taken through wrongful lethal force. The media stopped talking about the pandemic and all the attention shifted to protests and riots.

Freedom of speech is a valued right and social justice isn’t just for the privileged few. We at NextMark want you to know that we support peaceful change. Our number one priority continues to be the safety and health our employees and our members. We empower you to demonstrate your beliefs, but encourage you to do it in a peaceful manner. We will never support violent behavior by anyone and choose to be proactive in demonstrating our support for those who risk their lives to keep us safe. The credit union philosophy is all about People Helping People. Racism of any kind is intolerable. We must all take action to create a more inclusive and equitable culture that welcomes, values, and empowers everyone, regardless of race, color, ethnic background, religion, social class, or gender.
